Collection Notes: *Preservative required. Collect urine with 10g boric acid added to maintain specimen pH below 7.5. The total 24-hour volume in mL must be recorded on the container and requisition. If specimen is kept refrigerated during collection, then the preservative may be added after collection.
Clinical Utility: Aldosterone determination is useful to diagnose and evaluate patients with edematous states, primary aldosteronism, and certain fluid and electrolyte disorders.
