Collection Notes: Specimen must be collected in a royal blue top tube. Discard the first royal blue, and keep the second royal blue top. When drawing a serum trace metal tube, allow the specimen to clot in an upright position. Centrifuge the tube and pour (do not use a pipette) the serum or plasma into an acid washed or metal-free transport vial. Transport at room temperature.
Clinical Utility: This test is used to monitor individuals who are at risk for aluminum toxicity.
