Collection Notes: Stools should be collected in a clean, leak-proof plastic container. Refrigerate at 2 -8° C. Untreated stools that cannot be tested within 48 hours of collection should be frozen at -20 to -70°C. Do not use PVA containers.
Clinical Utility: Giardia’s identification is important for infection control and for treatment of giardiasis.
