Collection Notes: Avoid grossly hemolyzed and lipemic specimens. Centrifuge specimen immediately upon clotting. Indicate patient’s age on requisition form.
Clinical Utility: Decreased IgG levels are found in acquired immune deficiency, nephrosis, and certain malabsorption syndromes. Elevated IgG is associated with monoclonal IgG myeloma, autoimmune diseases, and acute and chronic inflammation.
